Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process for temporary assignments?
After you have submitted your resume and have been invited to our office to interview and test, we consider you registered with our firm and you are eligible for temporary assignments or direct-hire positions.

When we call you with a job, we tell you about the required skills, duties, start and end dates, hours, type of company, location, and pay rate. If you like what you hear, you can accept the job right over the phone. If you want to think it over, you can do that and call us back. If you do not have the required skills or are not available for the full length of the assignment, do not accept the assignment. If you prefer not to accept it for some other reason, you are free to turn it down.

If you accept the assignment, we will disclose the company name, address, contact person, and any other relevant information you will need.

Once you have accepted an assignment, we expect that you will fulfill it regardless of subsequent offers you may receive or any extenuating circumstances (just as if it were your permanent job). When you accept an assignment with Axiom Staffing, you are committing yourself to work from the start date through the end date specified. However, if the client wants to extend the job beyond the initial end date, you choose whether to stay on.

On the first day of an assignment
  • Leave extra early to allow time for problems with transportation or directions.
  • Dress professionally; you can dress casually on subsequent days if the dress is informal.
  • Be flexible. If the client is not prepared, you may have to wait for work. If the client is very busy, you may be asked to work especially hard. Please do your best in either situation.
  • Start a timecard at the beginning of your first day, and fill in your hours at the start and end of each day of the assignment.


On each Friday
Ask the supervisor to verify your hours by signing the timecard. Give the supervisor the top copy, and keep the second copy for yourself. The third copy is for PC Personnel. (You can submit it by e-mail, mail, or fax, or you can drop it off at our office.)

When the assignment ends
Complete your timecard through the last day and have it signed. If you would like more work, please let us know that you are available.

How is payroll handled?
Our week runs from Monday through Friday. Payroll is processed each Monday. To receive your check each week, you must do the following:
  1. Submit your hours by 10:00 a.m. each Monday (you may e-mail, fax, mail, or drop off your timecard-with or without the supervisor's signature) so we can produce your check.

  2. If the timecard that you submitted on Monday was not signed by the supervisor, we must have a signed original or legible facsimile on Tuesday in order to release your check.

    We do not record your hours over the phone, due to the high percentage of errors. If we do not have your hours by Monday at 10:00 a.m., your check will be delayed until the following Monday's payroll.

Paychecks are available on Thursday from noon (approximately) to 5:00 p.m. Come in at lunch or after work if you want to pick up your check. (The courier usually arrives in the morning but doesn't guarantee it-call first if you're coming in at noon.) We will hold your check until you pick it up or notify us. If you send someone to pick up your check, you must notify us in advance or sign a note for us and send it with them when they come.

If Monday is a legal holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.), the payroll schedule will be delayed one day. Timecards will be due by Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and checks will be available on Wednesday.

When do I get overtime, etc.?
Overtime: You will be paid overtime (one-and-one-half times your regular rate) for any hours over eight in one day or any hours over 40 in a single week (Monday through Sunday). You will also be paid overtime for the first eight hours worked on the seventh consecutive day in a single week.

Double-time: You will be paid double-time (two times your regular rate) for hours worked in excess of twelve in any workday or for hours worked in excess of eight on the seventh consecutive day. (Example: If you work 25 hours straight, the first eight are regular, the next four are overtime, the next 12 are double-time, and the 25th hour is regular again, as the clock resets each 24 hours.)

Lunch: If you work more than six hours in a day, it is required that the client provide you with a half-hour (or more) unpaid lunch break.

Breaks: You are entitled to one paid 15-minute break in each four-hour block. If you choose not to take a break, you are paid for the same four hours and cannot take compensatory time off later.

Injury: If you are injured while on the job, you are covered by our workers' compensation insurance policy. In case of emergency, seek immediate medical assistance. If your condition does not require emergency treatment, please call us so that we can give you information about medical care. We are required to report the injury within 24 hours. Therefore, you must contact us as soon as possible so that we can begin the paperwork for a claim.

Loyalty: If PC Personnel introduces you to a client company, the client is obligated to use you through PC Personnel or to pay PC Personnel a fee in order to hire you. We ask for your loyalty in not circumventing this agreement; if a client asks you to work for them directly, please let us know.

What is the process for direct-hire placement?
The placement process can take from 2-12 weeks and usually involves multiple interviews, reference checks, and a background check or drug screening. Each client works differently, with some preferring temp-to-hire so that they can evaluate candidates on the job. For those that prefer direct-hire, generally the process is as follows:
  1. The client will give us a job description with required skills and experience. If you match the job requirements, we will tell you about the opportunity and review the position with you to determine if you are a good fit. If so, we will ask your permission to submit your resume.
  2. The client usually interviews two or more candidates, sometimes considering internal candidates as well. The initial interview may be with the Personnel department, and you may have subsequent interviews with the hiring manager or departmental staff. You can send a thank-you note or e-mail if you feel it is appropriate.
  3. If the client company identifies you as the preferred candidate, they can extend an offer to you directly or through PC Personnel. Once you have decided whether to accept, reject, or counter the offer, we will assist you in the process. We can also help you finalize the start date, salary, benefits, and other aspects of the offer. Our clients respect a candidate's obligation to give two weeks' notice to their present employer.
